Experience
I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2003 and have worked in private clinical settings since that time (CA license PSY24114; NY license 015999).
I have enjoyed conducting psychotherapy with children and adults, conducting neuropsychological and psychoeducational assessments, and teaching graduate students at New York University in child and adolescent psychology.
I have broad clinical experience, having trained and worked in various settings, including:
I have received specialized training in the treatment of:

Belief System
I am particularly interested in working with children, adolescents, and their families on developing healthy relationships with self, family, peers, and school.
My approach to treatment is eclectic. I consider each individual as a component of a larger family system and each family system as a member of even larger school and community systems. Therefore, I value insights of parents and teachers and I keep in mind that healthy communication between people and systems feeds emotional well-being, relationship success, and academic achievement. My work with children and teens is informed by my belief that strong people are built on the shoulders of the people who surround and support them.
Approach
My approach stems from training in cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, systems, and interpersonal psychotherapy. I am flexible and will adjust my methods to individual personalities and goals. For example, I might implement a cognitive-behavioral-based reward/consequence system to improve behavior or attention and train parents and teachers in how to use it; a young adult client and I might choose to explore his history of loss and unconscious fear of abandonment; I might work with a mom and her adolescent to reach a compromise on screen limits and privileges at home; or therapy might primarily hinge on talking about current needs and dilemmas and through our relationship the child feels understood and safe and has room and confidence to develop her own solutions to her problems.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY33821) with extensive training and clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. I have conducted psychotherapy and assessments in a variety of settings, including community mental health clinics, intensive outpatient childhood treatment centers, short-term crisis stabilization programs, and private practices.
I have experience in the assessment and treatment of a broad range of clinical issues including anxiety, depression, ADHD, neurodevelopmental issues, learning disorders, mood, and trauma.
Here at Team Consulting, I bring to my assessments a drive to understand comprehensive learning and psycho-social profiles of children and teens. I hope the complete picture I generate helps them, their families, and teachers recognize their strengths and utilize them to cultivate and enhance learning, relating, and taking care of the emotional self.
My approach to the work is enthusiastic, optimistic, and genuine. I truly love connecting with kids and teens, helping them produce their best work, supporting them when they struggle, providing greater insight, and guiding treatment planning.
I am a doctoral student in the Ph.D. Clinical Psychology Program at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University in San Diego, CA. For many years, I have focused my work on children, adolescents, and families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and neurodivergent individuals in various capacities and settings. I bring to Team Consulting extensive training in cognitive, achievement, social-emotional, behavioral, and personality assessments of children and adolescents. I also have experience implementing educational interventions and consultations with educators and families.
I have extensive knowledge of psychological research and evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Seeking Safety. I have primarily treated children with mood disorders such as depression and anxiety; neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism and ADHD, complex trauma, self-injurious behaviors, and suicidality.
Most recently, I began pursuing specialized training in school neuropsychology to help expand my knowledge of brain functioning, its impact on child development, and how to integrate those concepts into mental health practices. I strongly believe the assessment process must include collaboration, curiosity, compassion, empathy, and openness. I take pride in delivering excellent, compassionate, person-centered, and trauma-informed care services.
