Girls Who Run the World
Girl Power in Sports, Business, Fashion/Style, Politics, and Music
The group is designed to educate and empower girls. They will read one age-appropriate article before each meeting to facilitate discussion during the meeting. Topics will include sexism, female leadership, societal pressures on physical appearance, peer influences on behavior, and social media’s impact on self-esteem.
I am seeking group members who would benefit from improved social skills, such as: applying empathy in conversations, learning how to communicate your opinion while “keeping your listener,” using diplomacy in the exchange of ideas, and monitoring others’ experiences while you are sharing
Girls should be entering the 7th, 8th, or 9th grades this fall. Girls who attend the same school will not be placed in the same group (unless both families are aware of the other’s participation and are in agreement that both girls will attend the group).
We will meet weekly on six Tuesdays at 4:00 for 45 minutes. Each group will be followed by a general email to parents summarizing themes covered during our meeting and offering specific guidance for the week. Meetings are on the following dates:
6/15
6/22
---
7/6
7/13
7/20
7/27
The fee per child is $100/session. (The cancellation policy will be a strict 7 days in advance because we cannot run group with fewer than 4 girls, and families need significant notice to change their plans if we need to cancel group.) Parents will be required to schedule one individual meeting with me after the second or third group so we can share our perceptions of how their child is doing in group and at home. (My regular session fee of $300 will be charged for this parent meeting.)

We offer small 4-week parent support and education groups designed to help parents with their anxious children. Groups are co-led by Dr. King and Ms. Krupat. Groups are partially guided by parents' specific wishes/goals for learning, and are partially guided by the clinicians as we take parents through the basics of having empathy for our anxious children and setting the limits with them that they need to grow.
The fee for each parent per group is $75 and we ask for a commitment from clients to attend all four sessions.
